Hey guys! So I may not be doing crafty stuff right now because I'm packing up my life and moving around the corner (and will get my very own craft room Woot!) but that doesn't mean I don't pick up inspiration from random places. I have a list my friends, and one of these days I will get to everything on it. Anyway, so on Saturday, Fairbanks had it's "Golden Days" celebration. Now two years ago when we moved up here and we went to the parade, I thought Golden days was just a one year thing because that year also happened to be the 50th anniversary of Alaska joining the United States of Alaska, this year it hit me, NOPE, it's "Golden days" because Alaska was the 50th state to join. Ahhhh, it all makes sense now...... Anyway, so we love parades, not because you get a ton of junk, but the we adults like the classic cars, and the kids love the dogs and horses. So off we go Saturday morning. We had a fun day! The parade and street fair, then we came home for naptime, when we were off again to celebrate the Pioneers at our church. (I didn't get many pictures of that) Kari got hit with her first water balloon (that was soooooo not cool) and poor Jill got her first scraped up knee. So I took a few (like 700) pictures. :P The hubby thinks I'm crazy, I think I have a really nice camera that has a succession picture feature (is that right?) Anyway, here are a few favorites. :D
Girls waiting for the parade to start
My favorite one I think. The whole thing was so rusted it looked like it would fall apart. :P
We sat right next to this car, and while we were all waiting for the parade they were posing. :D
It was so cool, we started a trend. Tyler and I stood up and put our hands over our hearts. Then like a wave everyone else started to as well. I wonder how far down it went.
These guys were awesome (you know I love a good marching band) but they were from Oklahoma. Wonder who decided "hey, lets go up to Fairbanks, Alaska and march in their dinky parade"? lol!
There were a lot of firetrucks, this one was my favorite because of the tribute to 9-11
Bagpipes, always a favorite.
I loved this one. This funky eclectic hunk of junk on wheels, but it was honoring a couple that'd been married for like 60 years.
super sweet
Okay, so I saw this little girl's dress before the parade when she was walking with her mom to the float. SO CUTE. I will make a few.
and the little one had a matching one. So adorable!
This little cheerleader was so adorable. What a cutie!!
I love these guys, always fun to watch
Queen Elizabeth waved to me. Sa-weet!
This wins the "Alexis' Favorite float" award.
Complete with a pilot!
my favorite goodie from the parade
And what parade would be complete without Uncle Sam?? :D
I hope you had fun. I've got to get back to packing. Ta-ta for now!!
