The dress and veil I made, with pictures this time!

Okay so I had to put these in here. I let Kari try on the veil, and now she wants one. So cute!!

The back of the dress and veil

 The front of the dress
4 layers of tulle lined with electric blue satin
Her flowers. I used tea roses, regular roses, tulips and daisy's with these little tiny daisy's for filler. Then added the blue fabric flowers and sprigs of crystals for sparkle.
Wrapped all the stems with floral tape first, then with white satin, then did the crisscross detail in the blue.
I loved how it turned out. It's my favorite bridal bouquet yet.

 Groom's boutonniere

Took a couple pictures of the ceremony before I realized that the actual photographer wasn't taking any so I probably wasn't supposed to.

The cake that my friend made. She's pretty incredible. That's something I'm going to try to learn

She was giddy the whole time. It kinda cracked me up.
 Love this shot.

Obligatory ring shot (her ring was stinkin' gorgeous)
 kissy!
Annnnd, then my battery died. Lame. But everything looked gorgeous. It all came together perfectly.

What I've been up to...

Whew! This week. Wow. It's been the longest/quickest week of my LIFE. So let's start at the beginning. So I was at church on sunday and my friend walks up to me with a girl I don't know. Says "hey, I should introduce you to Alexis". She sits down next to me. Find out she's from California and is getting married to one of our new converts on Saturday. Now this was kind of spur of the moment. Almost like an elopement. They were originally getting married in November but he's deploying in a couple weeks so they decided to just do it. So she flies up last saturday, and they're getting married this saturday. So my friend gets permission to invite everyone to the wedding (which will take place in our church) and the bride says, sure why not? Thinking that no one knows them so no one would show up. Little did she know that our ward is strange. Super overly friendly, almost seeming insincere but they're not. Anyway so after the lesson, I over hear the bride talking to my friend about fabric. Okay, that got my attention. So I say, "Fabric? My favorite word! What're you making?" And my friend says, "oh hey, you sew right? Want to help make her wedding dress?" So I say yes. It's not everyday that you get to make something super cool and elaborate. I was terrified and excited at the same time. So monday rolls around. I spend 5 hours doing freezer meals for another friend who was having a surgery this week. Then tuesday comes along. I go pick her up. She comes over, I get started on the dress. It's coming together really quick. Then the stupid skirt.....there was 4 layers of the nice thin tulle and 4 layers of the fatty thick tulle. It took up too much room around her hips, make it hard to zip, I was mad. Doubting my ablilites, ect, ect. So I spent most of wednesday with the bride, picking up contrasting satin for the dress, getting stuff for her flowers, ect. So all that night I work on the veil and started the bias tape for the tulle. Then all of yesterday I did nothing but work on this dress. But it's finished, it's gorgeous, I think I fixed the bulk issue, but I won't know for sure until she tries it on. I can't wait to see her in it. I'll get some pictures of her in the dress either today or tomorrow. Today is all about the flowers. Going with her to pick some up, then I'll whip up a bouquet and boutonniere. That won't take me long. Tomorrow morning I'll throw in a lasagna for the reception and go help set up. Fun week my friends, fun week. I'm looking forward to sleeping on saturday night. :)
