Our fun filled saturday

Hey guys! So I may not be doing crafty stuff right now because I'm packing up my life and moving around the corner (and will get my very own craft room Woot!) but that doesn't mean I don't pick up inspiration from random places. I have a list my friends, and one of these days I will get to everything on it. Anyway, so on Saturday, Fairbanks had it's "Golden Days" celebration. Now two years ago when we moved up here and we went to the parade, I thought Golden days was just a one year thing because that year also happened to be the 50th anniversary of Alaska joining the United States of Alaska, this year it hit me, NOPE, it's "Golden days" because Alaska was the 50th state to join. Ahhhh, it all makes sense now...... Anyway, so we love parades, not because you get a ton of junk, but the we adults like the classic cars, and the kids love the dogs and horses. So off we go Saturday morning. We had a fun day! The parade and street fair, then we came home for naptime, when we were off again to celebrate the Pioneers at our church. (I didn't get many pictures of that) Kari got hit with her first water balloon (that was soooooo not cool) and poor Jill got her first scraped up knee. So I took a few (like 700) pictures. :P The hubby thinks I'm crazy, I think I have a really nice camera that has a succession picture feature (is that right?) Anyway, here are a few favorites. :D
Girls waiting for the parade to start
My favorite one I think. The whole thing was so rusted it looked like it would fall apart. :P
We sat right next to this car, and while we were all waiting for the parade they were posing. :D
It was so cool, we started a trend. Tyler and I stood up and put our hands over our hearts. Then like a wave everyone else started to as well. I wonder how far down it went.

These guys were awesome (you know I love a good marching band) but they were from Oklahoma. Wonder who decided "hey, lets go up to Fairbanks, Alaska and march in their dinky parade"? lol!
There were a lot of firetrucks, this one was my favorite because of the tribute to 9-11
Bagpipes, always a favorite.
I loved this one. This funky eclectic hunk of junk on wheels, but it was honoring a couple that'd been married for like 60 years.
super sweet
Okay, so I saw this little girl's dress before the parade when she was walking with her mom to the float. SO CUTE. I will make a few.
and the little one had a matching one. So adorable!
This little cheerleader was so adorable. What a cutie!!
I love these guys, always fun to watch
Queen Elizabeth waved to me. Sa-weet!
This wins the "Alexis' Favorite float" award.
Complete with a pilot!
my favorite goodie from the parade

And what parade would be complete without Uncle Sam?? :D
I hope you had fun. I've got to get back to packing. Ta-ta for now!!

My new house!!

Our new house!!!!! We move in next friday. Eep! So much to do!!
My new front door

about two thirds of the kitchen. It also has a big pantry, with a DOOR to keep certain little ones from throwing pasta and cans all over the floor all day. :D
Going up the stairs. I don't have any more pictures because Tyler said that we needed to hurry up because he had a meeting starting soon. But the house is 4 bedrooms 2.5 bath, an extra bonus room. It's big and gorgeous and I love it. It is stuck in the middle, we've got a B unit again. Oh well. Still better than what we've got now!!! :D

(Maybe) going home!

Some of you know that we "might" be able to get a hop home on the 8th of August. There are 6 planes flying to McChord that day. The problem was that the travel guy didn't know what KIND of planes they were. They might be ones that can take passengers, they might not. We'll find out on the 25th. I'm trying not to get too excited, especially since I know the sleeping who knows where, driving who knows how and getting home who knows when is going to be a big pain in the you-know-what. Being able to go home and see family and some friends will definitely be worth it. If we can go, we'd like to spend a day around Seattle maybe seeing some friends (Anna? Kate?) my sister, going to RAM (root beer!!!!) and taking the kids around Seattle, most especially the Science Center. I think they'd both have so much fun. :D I'm super excited. I just can't wait to be in a "city" that has more than a Walmart and Freddies. :D Then heading to the Tri-Cities. I'm excited to (hopefully) see everyone!! Joy, we need to get together, it's been YEARS. Anyway, I'll let you all know when we know if they're passenger planes or not. Keep your fingers crossed for me!!! :D

We passed 5 years!!

I didn't want this to be overshadowed by Kari's birthday (want to read about it, go here), but last Friday my wonderful husband and I celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary! We've come a long way and I'm happy and lucky to have such a wonderful man as my life partner. Love you so much sweetheart.

The long awaited for Ballerina party!!!!

The long awaited for Nutcracker Ballerina party!! It had a lot of twirling..
Tutu's
Let's not forget my PINK and silver Christmas tree (yes, I did put up my tree for 24 hours, so sue me. :P)
Each guests tutu was on the tree labeled
The candy for decorating gingerbread houses, and the white chocolate dipped marshmellows (with pink sprinkles of course!)
Some of those big tissue flowers
A few more...
The cakes on those fabulous cake platters. :D
I didn't get a good picture but the crepe paper roses are on the tablecloth and the tree.
Kiddos playing by the tree before guests arrive
Finishing up Kari's ballerina hair
Jill's adorable tutu
First thing we did was get girls in their tutu, then put glitter all over them!!
Kari's little tiara
And the back of her hair
Decorating gingerbread houses (and see at the bottom of the table, there's a bit of those roses.)

Kari licking her gingerbread. lol!!

Ballerinas watching the DVD of the real Nutcracker Ballet
Which of course leads to dancing!!!

Jill chewing on a book. :P

Girls dancing together
And generally there was a lot of twirling...
