Random

Well friends, I realise that I have neglected you. Most of you know, I have good news, I'm moving into my house on Tuesday!!!

Anyway, so I've been packing, cleaning, jumping up and down, squeeling. lol! I took my mom on a tour of the (dare I say apartment?) box I'm living in with the help of my laptop and Skype. It was quite fun. (are you jealous Bree? he he) Anyway, yesterday I went to the Relief Society b-day bash. :D It was kind of fun. Usually relief society things are kinda blah (or blech) but up here everyone is SO EXCITED that I'm here. It's kind of a little bit creepy. People were coming up to me saying, You're Alexis, do you want to sit with me? Uh...sure? I've met a couple really nice girls. Most women up here have more than one kid (heck, most of them have more than five) so there's not a ton in common with them, but I can't deny that they're nice girls. A lot of them are pregnant or had a baby in the last three months, it's totally out of this world. Everywhere I look are preggo bellies. And they're all looking at me.......no, I just have a flubby belly, not a preggo belly. ha ha!! Things are warming up. Yesterday it was 37 degrees and it felt positively WARM I'm not even kidding you. But when it warms up, it means more snow (I know, you'd think it would be the other way around, but hey, it's Alaska, it's special like that. Last saterday Tyler and I bought some new furniture. Our bedroom furniture is too big for our bedroom so we had to get a smaller set, and we only had this little loveseat so we got a sofa and loveseat in black leather (I know, not my idea, but hey, I can make it work) but I snapped this really cute picture of Tyler and Kari at the store.

HA HA!! I love it. Oh and I wanted to show you McD's in North Pole, it's pretty tight. :D
I told you that all the poles were candy cane striped didn't I? Anywho, I should get ready to go to bed. Chat at you all later!! :D

Pictures of AK :P

So my friend Brianna has been poking me in the ribs (figuretively speaking of course) to put pictures of Alaska up. Most of them are on my camera and I can't get to it (wasn't expecting to buy another computer so the cord is in storage) so those will have to wait, but I took some on my camera phone so here. :P

This is a picture of an ice sculpture (with a stupid wanted poster draped on it) of the state of Alaska in front of Wendy's in North Pole. All the buildings have ice sculptures, the churches, dentists, everything. It's kind of fun.

And this is a picture of the Santa Claus House in North Pole. Christmas is a HUGE deal up here. All the poles are candy cane striped (I'll take some pictures of that tomorrow and post them) But this house they sell christmas stuff year round. And in the back they have real live reindeer and in the christmas season (could be all year long, I'm not sure) you can visit with Santa. It's lots of fun for the kids.

And here he is, the big man himself (and I do mean big, he's about 50 feet tall) Santa outside his house. :D Notice the snow in all the pictures. The places that are not plowed or shoveled, the snow is about two and a half feet deep. More pictures to come!!!

First post

Well hello sports fans! (And I do mean that literally) It's march madness, guess what's on all day long at my house? Yep, you guessed it, basketball. Now, seeing as how I don't LIKE basketball, I've been spending a lot of time with Kari. This picture is of her in her new dress that I made (yep, you read it right, I made it. woo hoo!! I'm supermom!!) and she just turned 8 months. Can you believe it? I have a child that is 8 months old and my 22nd birthday is in what? 14 days. Yep, and that means that we've been stuck in TLF (military talk for temporary living facilities and yes, it is as bad as it sounds) for a month and 9 days. Woo hoo!! Now don't get me wrong, it has been an adventure and there are a lot of positive things about this neck of the woods, but I just feel like I'm on the vacation from you-know-where. I can't WAIT until we're finally in our house and I can feel like I live here, not that I'm on an overextended, unwanted stay. But I do have good news, the family that was living in our house did their final checkout yesterday so we're calling on monday to see how long the turn around will be. It could be anywhere from 2-3 days to 2-3 weeks. We'll see. Either way, we'll be out before the original date we were given. I'm happy. Next month we'll be flying to sunny San Diego for Brenden and Courtney's wedding. We're excited but it's going to be about a 90 degree difference so we're looking for shorts to take with us. Anyway, I need to get back to being a mommy! love you all!
